Butterfly Magic
Tucson Botanical Gardens
Tucson Botanical Gardens is fluttering with hundreds of the
worlds most beautiful and exotic live tropical butterflies. Through
February 26,2006, the Gardens' intimate Tropical Greenhouse features
Butterfly Magic with such colorful fliers as the brilliant
Blue Morphos and cleverly camouflaged Owl butterflies.
Visitors to the exhibit step into a world of winged wonders as
butterflies flit overhead and all around, stopping to feed on nectar
blossoms and softly landing on an arm or shoulder. The
butterflies are hatched from eggs and live as caterpillars in
butterfly farms around the world. When the caterpillars change into
the pupa or resting stage, they are shipped to the Gardens'
emergence chamber where they can be viewed by the public. Once
emerged, the adult butterflies are transferred to the greenhouse.
Butterfly Magic is open Tuesday - Sunday, 10 am - 3pm at the
Tucson Botanical Gardens, 2150 N. Alvernon Way. For more information
