![]() Moonlight HikeOne evening a month, you can join a small group of hiking enthusiasts for a moonlight walk through Red Rock State Park. From April through October, volunteer naturalists lead hikers on a moderate, 2.5 mile hike over the creek and up the hills for an incomparable view of the sunset and moonrise. At an elevation of 3,900 feet, trees line Oak Creek as it meanders through this diverse riparian habitat for plants and wildlife. During the 2—2.5 hour hike, naturalists share history of the land and its inhabitants and pass on some interesting geological facts about the red rocks and the plant life there. At the trail's end, hikers watch the sun settle behind the deep red rocks of Sedona and a bright, full moon take its place. The next hike is April 19 at 5:45 p.m., so sign up early. The hike is free (park entrance fee is $6 per car/four adults). For more information, call 928-282-6907. |
